Anza Gas Service was started by Richard (Dick) Ellington in 1962. Don Ellington had just graduated from high school and his dad asked him to come to Anza and help him start a propane business. That was the start. Dick had $1.50 in his pocket. He knew a guy that drove a propane tanker in Fresno and tried to locate him to no avail. He went to Modesto and ran into the guy. He asked him if he would back him in a propane business.
