About Company

There are a lot of good welders out there, but when you are sitting on your boat in the middle of the deep blue sea, you better be confident in your fuel tank. Honestly, your life depends on it. That means knowing your tank was made by a reputable tank manufacturer. SP Sheet Metal Company is that manufacturer. We believe SP Sheet Metal can be summed up in one word:

OUR HISTORY

We have been making marine fuel tanks for over 55 years and have established a reputation for outstanding, reliable work. We have made OEM (original equipment manufacturer) tanks for a lot of the major boat builders. We have built replacement marine fuel tanks for thousands of private individuals.  Our founders Chano and Clara Dominguez opened SP Sheet Metal Company in 1962 and built a thriving business manufacturing aluminum marine fuel replacement and OEM tanks in Toms River near the Barnegat Bay.  Darren L. Myers established his first successful sheet metal company in 1992 at just 24 years old. He bought SP Sheet Metal Co. in 1997 and quickly came up to speed on marine fuel tanks. Chano and Clara soon retired and Darren expanded our OEM base and diversified the business expanding into custom metal work with an emphasis on supermarket maintenance.  In 2008 Darren moved the business to new facilities at 446 North Main Street, Barnegat, NJ. With better shop logistics and a more central location in NJ, SP Sheet Metal Company continues to evolve and thrive.  In 2019 Robert Guarini purchased SP Sheet Metal Company. The company has now been relocated to Cape May Court House, NJ.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

Getting your fuel tanks built by SP Sheet Metal is about more than just getting an affordable tank you’ll have confidence in. When you work with SP Sheet Metal, you’re working with a family-owned operation, and one with decades of experience in the field.

  • When choosing a fuel tank manufacturer, it is vital to choose one who is fully vetted and insured. Working with uninsured manufacturers can expose you to liability issues. We are a fully insured manufacturer, so when you work with SP Sheet Metal, you’ll have peace of mind – and that’s priceless.
  • Did you know that having no labels can void your insurance? We work closely with the Coast Guard to ensure our tanks meet their rigorous specifications. They are here on a regular basis to certify our tanks for inspected vessels. That means you can hit the water with the peace of mind that comes with knowing your tank meets stringent government standards.
  • Our materials are made in the United States, and we’re proud of that. Most fuel tanks are installed in a harsh environment and can see a lot of use over the course of their lifetime. American materials hold up better in these conditions, which is exactly why we use them. Why take a chance on using imported materials? As an added bonus, using American materials means we support American jobs and the American economy. When you buy from us, you’ll be doing the same.
  • Few things tell you more about a company than their staff. Here at SP Sheet Metal, we have four staff members who have been here 15 years or more. That kind of loyalty and experience is invaluable. After all, there is no substitute for experience – and there is not much we haven’t seen.
  • Companies come and go, but companies that have lasted more than half a century? They are a rarity. We are proud to be among them. Not only are our decades of experience priceless, all those years in the field mean we already have most tank drawings on file. Sometimes, we know what model of boat a tank comes from just by looking at it. You can’t put a price on that.
  • What more can we say? A business like ours does not last for decades without providing great service. Our clients demand attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship every time. Their safety depends on it. That’s why we take our work seriously.  Remember, when you work with SP Sheet Metal, you’re working with a family operation with over 55 years of quality work on its resume.
