With over 40 years experience in the drilling industry, we provide service across Northern Nova Scotia to homeowners and businesses alike. We are happy to provide Free Estimates. Our company is a small family business that strives to provide quality service and customer satisfaction to all customers. In the late 1970’s, Cecil Martin, owner and operator, started his drilling career at the Nova Scotia Department of Environment. He continued working in the drilling industry before deciding to start his own well drilling company. In 1999, Cecil, along with his son John, opened C&J Martin Well Drilling Co. Ltd. Both John and Cecil are licensed well drillers and pump installers by the Nova Scotia Department of Environment. A company that started as father and son has now expanded to employ several full-time employees. Although we continue to expand our business, it remains a family run business. We take pride in our business and our work and, as a result, we have built a strong reputation of quality workmanship. With 40 years of drilling industry experience behind us, we look forward to serving our customers and the drilling industry for generations to come.
A very cost effective heating and cooling solution that will pay for itself.
Geothermal energy is a renewable and efficient energy source. Geothermal Energy relies on the Earth’s core, which is comprised of hot, molten materials and offers unlimited energy potential. This energy, which is accessible through drilled boreholes, can be converted to provide either heating or cooling within the home. Despite the elevated initial cost of a geothermal installation, it is a very cost effective heating and cooling solution that will pay for itself because of low operating costs and low maintenance operation. Unlike other renewable energies, geothermal does not depend on meteorological conditions; such as wind and solar. Geothermal energy can be scaled for both residential and commercial heating and cooling needs. A vertical closed loop geothermal system requires high density pipe to be placed in drilled boreholes. The boreholes must then be tremie grouted- that is, from the bottom up, with clay. This allows contact between the pipe and the soil and prevents water contamination by surface water. In a geothermal system, a solution is circulated through the pipes and the heat pump. Depending on the season and the energy required, the heat pump either warms the solution (in cooling mode) or cools the solution in (in heating mode) providing you with a dual use system to help keep the conditions in your home just the way you like them.
