About Company

Calgren will continue the trend of improving America's energy security, while creating high quality jobs and cleaning the environment by constructing an ethanol production facility in Pixley, California. The new Calgren Plant produces 55 million gallons of ethanol, 400,000 tons of WDGS and 1.5 million gallons of corn oil each year. Every 21 gallons of ethanol produced by Calgren will displace a barrel of imported oil.

The United States’ growing reliance on foreign oil imports is now close to 60%. That's double the level at the time of the 1973 oil embargo energy crises that crippled our economy. In recent years, the United States has now become 10% reliant on foreign imports of refined gasoline.  Environmental and infrastructure constraints limit the ability to add new domestic refining capacity, creating a higher reliance on foreign imports of refined and crude petroleum products unlikely to change or reverse. This trend is a major threat to long term economic and political stability here in the U.S. and overseas.  Developing domestic non petroleum fuel ethanol facilities is playing a key role in decreasing the negative impacts of reliance on foreign petroleum.

our vision

Calgren began continuously producing ethanol August 8, 2009. With our groundbreaking design, the plant is one of the most efficient operations and lowest carbon footprint facilities in the country. The plant is powered by an ultra-low NOx gas turbine generator capable of producing 5,800 KW of electricity, the exhaust of which makes process steam. We will achieve our goals through serving local needs. Each year 55 million gallons of ethanol will be trucked to Central Valley fuel blenders; 400,000 tons per year of WDGS animal feed will provide an attractively priced source of protein and nutrients to local dairies and feedlots; 1.5 million gallons of corn oil will serve local poultry producers and bio-diesel facilities; and we will bring new, high-quality jobs to the community.  Our vision is also on the future. We are investigating and evaluating alternative feed stocks, including wastes and cellulose. The cogeneration turbine is capable of operating on methane gas from local waste lagoons.
