OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY CORPORATION IS A COMPANY INTRODUCING COMMERCIALLY VIABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POTABLE WATER SOLUTIONS.Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE) traces its roots to 1998 when our predecessor company began researching and developing the technologies known as Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC)and Seawater/Lake Water Air Conditioning (SWAC). We are in the advanced planning stages for the worlds first commercial-scale OTEC plant. The Company also develops SWAC/LWAC systems. OTEC produces electricity 24/7/365 without the use of fossil fuels. An OTEC plant can be configured to produce large amounts of water for drinking, food production and economic development. OTEC technology has been established and proven at a research and development plant. Our management team has established a noteworthy pipeline of projects with several signed memoranda of understanding (MoU). We have completed and submitted renewable energy feasibility studies, designs and proposals for the Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the United States Department of Defense (USDoD). Following our OTEC technical feasibility study which we presented to the Legislature of the US Virgin Islands, in July 2016 we received regulatory approval as a Qualified Facility by the Public Services Commission (PSC) of the US Virgin Islands. The PSC approved us for a land-based Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion plant to be built in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. Our main project is designing and developing the OTEC EcoVillage, an entire community powered only by the fossil-fuel free energy produced by an OTEC plant. Fresh water for the community is also produced by OTEC. Once built, the OTEC EcoVillage will boast the worlds very first commercial grade OTEC plant. To advance our OTEC EcoVillage project, we have retained the services of the Sky Institute for the Future and Studio Sky (Sky). The mission of our company and Sky is to implement pragmatic and sustainable strategies in design, energy, town planning, and agricultural production, and to create and incubate transformational ideas that will nourish healthy communities and educate current and future generations. Studio Sky has already successfully designed and built the Mahogany Bay Village in Belize and they will use their proven expertise to bring our vision for a sustainable community to life. The OTEC EcoVillage project will consist of 2,3 and 4 bedroomed homes, an EcoHotel, Village Center with stores, shops, restaurants and a pharmacy and a medical center. An adjoining employment-generating Green Innovation Park with space for multiple businesses will make use of the OTEC desalinated water resulting in economic development, food production, aquaculture and other ideas. OTEs comprehensive plans for the future include building a global network of high-quality eco-resorts along the lines of the US Virgin Islands project. We are headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania USA with an office in the US Virgin Islands.
OUR MISSION
To inspire sustainable living and awareness for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) renewable energy and potable water by building, owning, and operating fossil-fuel free OTEC systems, supplying affordable clean power and water for communities, and exemplifying best practices in ecologically responsible developments.
OUR VISION
To develop, build, own, and operate fossil-fuel free energy and water supply solutions for communities that will benefit future generations through sustainable growth, both profitably and responsibly, while inspiring affordable, sustainable living.
OUR VALUES
We are committed to bringing basic human necessities - electricity, water, food production, and security - to many communities around the world. Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation offers people in tropical and subtropical regions of the world an opportunity to achieve life-sustaining independence through proven alternatives to ecologically destructive energy and water systems.
OUR TEAM
Our multidisciplinary team of experienced corporate executives, scientists, and ocean engineers has many years of successful experience with early stage technology companies, renewable energy systems, and environmental solutions. Together with strong strategic alliances with premier US and international corporations, global organizations, and financing institutions, we have a clear and compelling vision to empower millions of global citizens. Like-minded investors have joined us to support our efforts to develop and provide basic human necessities worldwide through a combination of environmentally responsible technologies and a new spirit of ethical business practices.
The History of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC)
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) was originally conceived in the 1880s, although the first net power producing facility wasnt developed until the 1990s. Located in Hawaii, USA at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA), the plant was funded by the US Department of Energy. Today, this demonstration OTEC plant is the worlds first net power producing facility connected to the grid. In recent years, technological advances in deep water piping have made large-scale pipes commercially available for OTEC plants as outlined in this 2009 NOAA report. This development, in conjunction with volatile oil prices and global renewable energy mandates, makes today the opportune time to bring OTEC to market.
OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY CONVERSION
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a game-changing technology that leverages the temperature difference in the ocean between cold deep water and warm surface water in the tropics and subtropics to generate unlimited energy without the use of fossil fuels. It boasts a competitive advantage over alternative sources of electricity production regarding accessibility, predictability, affordability, and emissions.
STRATEGIC ALLIANCES
At Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation, we seek to align ourselves with the best of the best. We’ve partnered with major engineering and defense companies from around the world for their counsel, expertise, company involvement, and technical knowledge.
