Since Jan, 2020
Oil Technology Group, LLC (“OTG”) was founded to harvest a lot of the oil still remaining in oil fields that are nearing the end of their “primary”, and in some cases “secondary”, production cycle. We do this by deploying Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technologies that dramatically increase oil production from existing wells. These proven technologies include Enriched Gas EOR Cyclic Injection (“Cyclic Gas EOR”), Ethane, Surfactant, and CO2 Floods.. Our team consists of senior industry professionals who are leaders in all aspects of EOR technologies and their implementation, especially Cyclic Gas EOR.
The OTG Difference – Less Risk, Bigger Returns
- Traditional oil production methods leave most of the oil in the ground while hundreds of billions of barrels of oil remain to be recovered from proven fields. New EOR technologies are now available to recover that oil.
- Recovering the oil left behind is less risky. Prior production proves those fields have plenty of remaining oil. Recovering the oil left behind becomes a matter of matching a specific technology to a specific field.
- New EOR technologies are usually developed by Big Oil (like Chevron, Shell, Kinder Morgan). Our science and engineering team not only worked for and still consults to Big Oil, testing and developing the new technologies, but we invented new ways to use some of them!
- This leading edge expertise gives us the knowledge to select the best EOR technology for a given oilfield and the ability to maximize recovery of the oil left behind.
We Are Experts In EOR Technologies
As an oil field matures and production rates decline, there is growing incentive to intervene and attempt to increase oil output utilizing EOR techniques. The newest options to harvest some of the remaining oil include Cyclic Gas EOR Injection, Ethane Floods, and CO2 Floods. Our engineering team is at the cutting edge when it comes to modern EOR technologies. For example, OTG is considered a leader in Cyclic EOR injection and Ethane Flooding.
Cyclic Gas EOR is a new way to extend the life of horizontal shale oil wells. FIRST, a gaseous solvent is injected into an oil field to clean the rock in a process much like dry cleaning. The solvent consists of field gas residing in the formation and produced along with the oil.
Field gas is typically enriched with ethane and propane to make it an effective solvent, hence the name “Enriched Field Gas”. The Enriched Field Gas is compressed and injected into an existing horizontal well under high pressure, typically for a few weeks.
NEXT, injection is stopped so the solvent can soak into the rock to dissolve and clean out the oil. Then the oil and gas are produced back from the same well, typically for a few months.
This sequence of injection, soak, and production is repeated in cycles thereby harvesting more of the oil remaining in the field. This Cyclic Gas EOR method will extend the economic life of horizontal shale wells by more than doubling their original oil production.
Our Value Proposition
- 6-8% of additional oil can be harvested using Cyclic EOR method
- CAPEX is a fraction of the original costs because Cyclic EOR uses existing wells. No new wells need to be drilled
- The OTG team has the engineering knowledge and expertise to implement Cyclic EOR
