Sustainable Energy Strategies, Inc. was founded in 1997 as a contractor to the alternative fuels industry, initially focused on biodiesel, ethanol (E85), and propane as transportation fuels. We also have extensive experience with electric & hybrid, natural gas and high efficiency vehicle technologies. Our services include: project management, grant writing, infrastructure development, and government/industry liaison. As our world explores alternatives to current energy sources, industries to support those alternatives are developing and growing. Overview
Founded in 1997, Sustainable Energy Strategies, Inc. is dedicated to advancing the development of green energy technologies. SESI focuses on moving alternative fuels for transportation and other sectors toward market readiness and greater utilization.
Key Areas of SESI Activities
- Project Development – creating new concepts and expanding existing projects, securing teams and partnerships, and fundraising
- Project Management – reviewing proposals, monitoring/evaluating project progress, budgeting, reporting, accounts tracking and invoicing, and coordinating among parties throughout projects
- Project Review – participating in Merit and Peer Reviews of Federal technology programs
- Technical Analysis – performing conceptual design and analysis, evaluating technology potential and R&D efforts, conducting demonstration program data collection and analysis, developing technological solutions, and identifying pathways for implementation of advanced technologies
- Legislative, Regulatory, Policy, and Program Analysis – assessing compliance requirements and applicability; developing legislative/regulatory solutions, analyses, and input; identifying barriers and developing policy solutions; conducting strategic planning and program analyses; and evaluating and commenting on legislative/regulatory proposals, particularly concerning alternative fuels and fleets
- Infrastructure Development for Alternative Fuels - working with partners to identify interested fleets and convenient fueling stations, helping station owners identify and win infrastructure grants, coordinating contracts between suppliers and stations, and, as needed, serving as liaison for the installation activities between contractors and station managers
- Grant Writing and Funding Identification - working with industry representatives and corporations to determine funding needs and matching to appropriate grants, as well as working with partners to prepare quality grant submissions
- Grant Selection and Review – determining eligibility and selection criteria for foundations providing grants and evaluating potential grant applications
- Public Relations – editing and developing content for magazines and newspapers, writing and presenting speeches, and drafting press releases
- Event Coordination – conducting public outreach such as advertising campaigns and press releases, grant organizational activities/events/meetings, and all aspects of conference planning and support
Critical SESI Capabilities
- Long-term knowledge-base in alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and alternative fuels (natural gas, propane, electric and hybrid, ethanol and biodiesel blends), and with industry and government organizations related to advanced fuel development
- Involvement in the formation, planning, and implementation of significant alternative fuel vehicle programs, including for both voluntary (Clean Cities) and regulated (State and Alternative Fuel Provider and Federal) fleets
- Business planning for biofuel infrastructure development, including: market research, fleet analysis, equipment assessment, and fleet and retailer liaison efforts
- Long-term familiarity and experience with government and foundation information and procurement systems particularly with respect to grants
- Foundation Management ensuring compliance requirements, oversight, managing board-related deadlines and action items, coordinating directors, performing web management, and leading outreach activities, and other management functions
Identification of training, infrastructure planning, education and outreach, policy recommendations, and other support needs for Clean Cities Coalitions
