Solar Electric is one of the terms commonly used when energy from the sun is captured using Solar Photo Voltaic Panels. These panels consist of solar cells that turn the sun rays into electricity. The Sun is our only energy source expected to last billions of years. Each one of these solar cells generate tiny amounts of electricity, but when combined can generate enough electricity in scale to efficiently power our electrical needs. Technology has come to the point where the use of Solar Electric provides long term viability and economies of scale. Its key advantages include no moving parts unless it is designed to follow the sun across the horizon. When installed with no moving parts, it is noiseless and free of polluting emissions. Solar Systems have become modular and can be installed virtually anywhere. Solar Energy has become a big part of the Green or Sustainable initiative: free limitless clean fuel supply that is friendly to our environment unlike fossil fuel. Perhaps the rising cost and limited supply of fossil fuel is finally causing this "Revolution in Terms of Solar Energy". Fossil fuel use is really detrimental to our planets eco system, and people that grow corn or other substitutes for fossil fuel are equally to the blame as those who use it. Why waste precious food as additives to fossil fuel so that we can continue burning more of it? There is really no excuse to not start using solar power whenever possible as this will begin to diminish the tons of pollutants we disperse into Earths atmosphere every day. Starvation and premature death is our outcome if we do not heed to the Green House Effect warning that is facing us. Use of Solar Electric is now profitable because it has become cheaper to operate. Plentiful and cheap electricity has made America what it is today, a global powerhouse; and a Solar Revolution can do just that again by allowing our machines and buildings to operate more efficiently and competitively. When Solar panels that have a current lifespan of between twenty-five and thirty years are installed properly and with care using quality materials, meaning correct gauge in wiring, grounding, mounting, and susceptibility to oxidation reduced, then there should be no reason why the whole system should not last as long, save for perhaps an inverter here and there failing over its projected lifespan. Inverters by the way, change the Direct Current output of a solar PV (solar panel) module into Alternating Current which is what households normally run on. Combine all of the above, and with the Garden State advocating the use of Solar through generous incentives, the advent of the internet allowing easy monitoring of a solar installation for its performance, Solar Electric will quickly become the norm as people begin to realize how cost effective and affordable it has become. But do not wait any longer, now is the time to switch to Solar Power from dirty fossil fuel burning and help save our planet.
Types of Solar Electric
Grid Connected Solar Power Systems: this is your typical residential or commercial solar electric application. From simple solar home systems supplying individual houses, to small mini-grid installations for a central village supply, up to stabilizing an existing grid itself, a grid connected solar power system produces power from the use of solar pv panels and then sends any unused electricity back to the grid for electrical backup so that it can be used when it is night time or when the sun is out. Any remaining electricity generated by the solar system that was sent to the grid and not used is purchased wholesale by the power company. Stand Alone Units: these type of solar power are used in places where there is limited access to grid connected electricity from the power plant. Effective uses are in farms, remote or vast areas where access to electricity is needed but impractical or not economical. A standalone unit can be used along with a battery backup so as to provide power long after sunset. In areas around the world where there is no electricity or the quality of grid connected electricity is poor due to constant blackouts, this type of arrangement enhances living standards along with increasing productivity. In New Jersey, aside from providing clean energy, standalone units are perfect for street lighting, parking lots, boardwalks, beaches, paths and walkways, communications, signs, vehicles, virtually anywhere where electricity is required and needs to be economical. Grid Connected Stand Alone Units: Like a rechargeable power source these units are perfect for places where it cannot make do without electricity. Good examples are: hospitals, defense, emergency backup, data centers, etc. It supplies solar power during normal use, charges a battery backup, and returns any excess power to the power plants electrical grid as additional backup or for the power plant to purchase if unused. Stand Alone and Grid Connected Stand Alone Solar Power Units have many advantages over existing diesel generators and other self-sustained systems: provision for fuel and servicing is no longer needed, plus added reliability and quietness due to no moving parts in a solar powered system.
RESIDENTIAL SOLAR POWER
NJ residential solar even after the state rebate was recently eliminated, is still a good deal. Payback, although not as quick as commercial solar is about seven to eight years using todas standard. After eight years the solar power equipment is yours free of cost, delivering free electricity and cash for the balance of the fifteen (15) years of SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Credits) program in New Jersey. We at NJ solar electric work with residential customers not only by providing quality service and Best of Breed type of installations, but by offering them different types of financing; PPA, Solar Lease, or using the customers line of credit or equity. The above example is from a Solar Lease.
Residential Solar Leasing:
Solar leasing has a shorter path towards ownership as opposed to a PPA. It enables the residential owner the ability to capitalize on the huge incentives that is offered by our government at the federal, state, and local level. Solar leasing works this way: a customer signs a lease to own agreement where the tax credit and SREC income from a solar system can be deducted from the price of a solar installation. Using this method allows the residential owner to buy back the solar equipment from the lessor for one dollar ($1) at the end of the lease. From here on, not only will an owner enjoy free electricity, but also the positive cash flow from the States SRECs.
Residential Solar Purchase Using Cash, Loan, or Combination:
When a customer can afford a solar purchase in cash, so much the better. They get to take advantage of the tax equity and SRECs that a solar installation affords. If a residential owner cannot fully pay for a solar installation in full, then there are many loans out there that make sense. A persons home equity loan or in the case of Solar Mortgages for example, allows a person to tap more than one hundred percent (100%) of the homes equity. Loans from utility companies are also available. However, the problem with a loan like this is the administrative cost and the SRECs that are used to pay it off. Not much is credited in the way the SRs are actually worth. We at NJ Solar Electric offer a fourteen (14) year warranty that includes all parts and labor to assure the home owner a headache free installation for many years.
COMMERCIAL SOLAR POWER IN NEW JERSEY
What makes commercial solar power so great in New Jersey? Well aside from being literally free and politically correct environmentally, it is a pure money maker. But how is this possible? Our government treats solar power the same way it treats areas of disaster with urgency combined with massive levels of funding. The exception is that solar electric power is like the tree of the future that bears fruit today that is made of gold unlike some disaster hit areas. In the gulf port for example, investors were given the opportunity to rebuild vast areas after hurricane Katrina hit by allowing them to depreciate Fifty percent (50%) of their investments in housing during the first year. These tax credits were then made retroactive for the investors previous Five (5) yeas worth of tax liabilities, and for all future taxable earnings while at the same time, the rest of their investment returned to them over the next four years thus essentially making their investment in housing free of cost. Commercial solar investing was also given the same depreciation treatment up until the end of 2009, has since ended, but with its remaining extra incentives it is still relatively free of cost to the investor. Aside from being cost free, solar electric has this power to make investments in this area multiply quickly. It is a feat that is hard to beat by other forms of investments. NJ Solar Electric is in the solar business and is happy to introduce to you Commercial Solar Electric Power. We will try to explain in detail how investing in the solar arena is done.
Commercial Solar PPA:
With this type of PPA (Power Provided Agreement) a commercial property establishment that includes farms, manufacturing facilities, marinas, building owners, corporations, sellers, renters and leasers of all types of equipment and properties, etc., essentially anyone in the commercial sector, is not required to utilize its own funds. All they have to do is agree to have a solar system installed on their property for a given set of period, typically Fifteen (15) or more years. Arrangements can then be made so that a commercial owner can eventually claim ownership for this solar system free of charge at the end of the contract. We at New Jersey Solar Electric will design and build as well as act as a bridge with an investment bank to finance a solar system project. System maintenance becomes our responsibility. In return you get discounted electricity for the life of the contract and free electricity thereafter. In this scenario the investor reaps the tax benefit of installing the solar system and the cash it produces for the next fifteen (15) years by way of the clean energy certificates it generates.
Commercial Solar Leasing:
With Commercial Solar Leasing, the objective here is to maximize profit derived from a solar installation for the commercial property owner. This is the shortest path to solar system ownership next to an outright purchase. Again, NJ Solar Electric Corporation as the system integrator designs and builds this solar system and acts as a bridge to investment banking to help finance a project with no dollar size limit. Commercial solar power leases come in five (5) to seven (7) years lease terms, or longer with a balloon payment at the end if desired. At the end of the term, ownership can then be transferred for one (1) dollar so that the commercial owner can also begin to collect the substantial positive cash flow generated by this solar power system via the SRECs. Here the Investor initially owns the system and takes advantage of the accelerated depreciation offered by the government but can agree to offset the price of the solar system by allowing the thirty percent (30%) federal tax credit or grant to be deducted from it. Furthermore, the investor may allow the SRECs that the system produces be kept by the commercial owner even though the system itself has not been completely paid, or deducted from its system price to lessen the amount of payments needed for a quicker path to ownership. In the meantime the free electricity that this solar power system produces, and the increased value it enhances the property with can also allow the commercial owner to help leverage financing. All in all it is not a bad way to obtain solar ownership quickly using other peoples money. Please consult us regarding this type of financing arrangement.
