About Company
Beryl Oil and Gas is a privately and internally funded company focused on exploration for oil and gas prospects and non-op working interests, focused primarily in the Permian Basin. Combined, the Beryl team has over 100 years of experience in the Permian Basin as well as extensive experience across the United States and internationally. Beryl Oil and Gas also serves as the exploration arm of Redbird Exploration, and Alan Means, through Cambrian Management, manages all engineering aspects.
Our Team
- Mr. J. Michael (Mike) Party is Owner/President of Beryl Oil and Gas L.P. a company he formed in 2013. He most recently served as a Vice President of Exploration at Reliance Energy, Inc from November 2009 to November 2016. Mr. Party started his career with Cities Services working as a geophysicist overseeing seismic crews in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico and doing interpretations with all types of geophysical techniques, including magnetics, gravity and magnetotellurics. He joined Wagner & Brown in 1981, where he generated and evaluated projects employing both geological and geophysical data throughout ... the US and internationally. He served as Exploration Manager for 9 years before joining Reliance Energy. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1978 with a BS degree in Geology/Geophysics and was awarded an Honorary Professional Degree in 1994. Mr. Party is an active member of local, national, and international geological societies. Most notably, he served on numerous committees within the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and has served as the President of the Southwest Section of the AAPG, Secretary of AAPG, and President of the Division of Professional Affairs within the AAPG. He also served as President of the West Texas Geological Society and the Permian Basin Section of SEPM. Mike was awarded the Outstanding Young Alumni from the University of Missouri –Rolla, and Honorary Life membership from both the West Texas Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologist. He is a Certified Geologist within the State of Texas and is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and Certified Petroleum Geophysicist by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
- Prior to joining Beryl in June of 2018, Tim Reece served as Vice President -Land at Trey Resources, Inc. Tim was one of Elevation Resources founders and served as its Vice President of Land from April of 2013 to April of 2017. He served as Land Manager – Permian Division for Samson Resources. Before his time with Samson he was with Unocal, Pure Resources, Santa Fe Energy, and Wagner & Brown, Ltd., all located in Midland, Texas and Pike Oil Company in Dallas, Texas serving in varying capacities as a Landman. Mr. Reece is a Certified Professional Landman and has 37 years of experience as a Landman in the oil and gas industry. He has worked on projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, Michigan, Colorado, Utah and other Rockies oil and gas states, with the bulk of his expertise in the Permian Basin. Mr. Reece began his career as an Accountant and Auditor with the Treasury Department, State of Texas, then with Diversified Human Resources in Dallas, Texas where he was responsible for the companys cash management and supervised accounts payable and receivable. Mr. Reece holds a BBA (Accounting Major) from the University of Texas. He is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen, Permian Basin Landmens Association, and New Mexico Landmens Association. He has served as President of the Permian Basin Landmens Association from 1996 to 1997 and on the Board of Directors of the Permian Basin Landmens Association at various other times in the capacities of Director, Treasurer, Second Vice President, and First Vice President. He was named PBLA Executive Officer of the Year in 1994. Tim and his wife Paige reside in Midland and have four children.
- Mr. Robert A. Wipf is Vice President Exploration of Beryl Oil and Gas, LP since November 2016. He most recently served as Exploration Manager at Reliance Energy, Inc from August 2013 to November 2016. He started his career at Getty Oil Research in Houston for 4 years working on projects using remote sensing, core studies in California, and doing log analysis for projects in West Texas, Offshore California, and Offshore Nigeria. He then was transferred to the Midland District covering the northern Delaware Basin and performing log analysis on all significant wells in the Permian Basin for 3 years before being promoted to Lead Exploration Geologist for the Denver District. Work at Denver included log analysis, preparing exploration budget, and calculating the geologic reserves for the district. In July 1982, he joined Wagner & Brown as a geologist covering the Permian, Michigan, and Rocky Mountain Basins. He also covered the Paris Basin and performed log analysis on all Wagner and Brown wells. In January 2010 he was promoted to Exploration Manager, a position he held until he left to Join Reliance Energy. Mr. Wipf received his Bachelor of Science Geology degree in June 1970 and his Masters Geology degree in August 1973 From the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a member of West Texas Geological Society.
- Lauren Blackketter joined the Beryl Oil & Gas team in July, 2016 as the Office Manager. She is a 2007 graduate of Southwestern University with a BA in Business and earned her Professional Land Management certificate from the Midland College PPDC in January, 2016. She is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Permian Basin Landmens Association. Lauren previously worked for Ozark Consultants LP, assisting with Petra projects, maintaining email accounts and webpages, and managing various accounting tasks. Prior to that, Lauren worked for Railroad Controls, LP where she estimated rail signal system upgrades, assisted in creating yearly financial forecasts, and created and maintained crew schedules.
- Ashton Faulkner joined the Beryl Oil & Gas team in March 2017. She is currently a graduate student at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin pursuing her masters degree in geology. She received her BS in Geology with a minor in Geoinformatics from Texas A&M University in May 2016. She previously interned with the Railroad Commission of Texas in the Underground Injection Control department. Her time at the commission was dedicated to studying the seismicity issues occurring in the Fort Worth basin. Ashton is skillful in ESRIs ArcGIS. She has experience in the theory and operations of Global Navigation Satellite Systems as well as Remote Sensing applications used to solve research problems common in the field of Geosciences. Ashton is a member of the West Texas Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
- Robert (Rob) Party joined the Beryl Oil and Gas team in October, 2016. Prior to joining Beryl, Rob worked as a contract geologist for various companies through Ozark Consultants. Rob is a 2015 graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences/Geology with a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Robs experience includes work within ArcGIS, GeoGraphix, and Petra. Rob is an active member of the West Texas Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
