About Company

BLACKHAWK OIL & GAS COMPANY (Blackhawk) will concentrate its exploration for oil and gas in the Great Basin area of the Western United States. The Great Basin covers several States to include all of Nevada, Utah and parts of Idaho, California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Wyoming. Death Valley is the lowest point in the Basin being 272 feet below sea level and discounting the mountains the Great basin rises to 4,800 feet above sea level in the valleys of Nevada and Utah and over 6,800 feet above sea level in the high deserts of Wyoming. The Great Basin has had very extreme geological ups and downs. At one time it was the bed of a Great Inland salt water sea with openings to the Pacific Ocean. There is history in the rock structure, the up lifted mountains, the water lines of a much different geological setting for the Basin than we see today. But these violent upheavals of the ground and shifting of sub surface rock strata has led to extensive faulting which creates a very fertile environment for mineral,  oil and gas sequestration. Nevada is known as the silver State. But Nevada is also number three in Gold production in the world and with the newest discoveries; Nevada in a few years may be the number one producer of Gold in the world. Now Nevada and Utah have recently discovered that the Great Basin may have as much undiscovered oil and gas as does the reserves in the Saudi fields. Blackhawk intends to be a Hawk in it’s pursuit of Oil and Gas in the Great Basin.

Company Oil & Gas Prospecting Strategy:

Oil and Gas like gold is best found where other oil and gas has been found. BLACKHAWK OIL & GAS COMPANY (Blackhawk) research has shown that practically all the great oil fields of the world were marked by oil and gas issues near the crest of anticlines or the apices of domes. Research has shown that oil and gas seeps have resulted in the discovery of more oil and gas fields than has any other single method. Viable seeps are most common around the margins of petroliferous basins where the oil-bearing sediments crop out. Seeps commonly occur at the outcrop of a permeable rock unit that constituted an oil reserve until the overlying impermeable stratum was breached by erosion or broken by tectonic activity.  And wells drilled near seeps often discover reservoirs in deeper zones, either beneath the seep or downdip within the same stratigraphic interval.

Gas Seeps discovered:

Recent field investigative research by Blackhawk has discovered several areas in North Eastern Nevada of previously undiscovered methane gas seeps. These areas will be the first areas studied for possible new oil fields.

Recent advances in surface geochemical prospecting

have enabled age-old seep technology to be used to determine the gas versus oil character of a potential fairway. Extensive field work has demonstrated that the chemical compositions of near-surface hydrocarbon soil gases, measured by flame ionization gas chromatography are largely determined by the hydrocarbons in nearby underlying reservoirs.  By using compositions and ratios of the light hydrocarbons, methane, ethane, propane, and butane, one may predict whether oil and gas is more likely to be discovered in the prospect area. The correspondence with the actual formation gases suggests that the upward migration of reservoired light hydrocarbons into near-surface soils represents a viable mechanism, allowing surface geochemical exploration to be utilized for regional hydrocarbon evaluations.

Oil and Gas Zones of interest to Blackhawk:

Blackhawk has acquired extensive research from credible sources (USGS, Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, etc.) that indicates there is an extensive hydrocarbon rich structure (Chainman) that extends from well below the Railroad Valley oil and gas wells south east of Ely, Nevada (which wells have produced more than 50 million barrels of oil) then running north/ north east through the recently discovered oil and gas rich West Ranch Prospect on the border of Elko/White Pine counties. The trend continues north/north east through the Deadman Creek oil field in Toano Draw, Nevada. Continuing north/northeast to the Utah, Idaho, Nevada border where several wells were drilled in Idaho and Utah with shows of Oil and Gas at the 685 foot level in Utah and in Idaho at the 1,200  and 1,400 foot levels.

Sub-Surface Hydrocarbon Exploration:

Blackhawk has purchased a sub surface mobile drill rig and will purchase their own Flame Ionization Gas Chromatograph unit and will be using the relatively inexpensive exploration technology of sub surface flame ionization gas chromatography to determine the value of their oil and gas leases and their possible future oil and gas lease prospects for underlying reservoirs of oil and gas.
