About Company

With hundreds of residential, commercial and institutional projects installed, Western Solar is a leading provider of renewable energy systems in the Northwest including solar electric systems and electric vehicle charging stations.  We strive to design and install the most cost-effective energy-saving solutions for our clients. In so doing, we hope to contribute to decreasing our country’s dependence on fossil fuels and its contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions.  Western Solar was founded in 2002 and our team leads have over fifteen years of experience installing several megawatts of solar electric systems throughout the United States.  Our experience gives us confidence in our services, allowing us to provide one of the longest workmanship warranties in the industry, 10 years!

Why Choose Us?

We firmly believe that we should be judged by how we treat our employees and customers. With that ethos at the core we focus on integrity and craftsmanship as our guiding principles in our decision making process. From equipment selection, system design, installation best practices, and long term support, we strongly believe that quality matters.  Our electricians are NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Certified and as industry leaders are called upon by the electrical union to teach solar best practices.

Our Service Area

Western Solar installs solar PV systems throughout the I-5 corridor, including Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, and Island Counties. We have also done projects in Thurston and San Juan Counties as well. If you’re curious if we install in your area, just give us a call at (360) 746-0859. Check out our solar installation map to see if we’ve recently completed a project in your neighborhood.

Completing a Site Assessment

Think about the roof space you are considering for a solar installation. Is this roof space open to the sun from 9 am to 4 pm, with minimal shade from trees or surrounding objects? If so, the next step to finding out whether your house will be a great solar production location is to have a solar contractor come out and complete a solar site assessment.  During a Site Assessment, a Western Solar representative will take a solar pathfinder reading at the exact proposed location for your solar array. Additional data is also taken, including roof and structural measurements and annual usage from your electric bills.  Back at the office, the data can be compiled and combined with decades of local weather data to create a personalized, highly accurate solar site analysis.

What to Expect After a Site Assessment

Once an assessment has been completed and your unique data entered into our software, you will receive a report that includes a 30 year financial breakdown. This report will demonstrate the production capacity for your site using the proposed equipment.  This financial breakdown will include all available incentives and will accurately estimate when you will see a positive return on your investment. There are several factors considered including utility district, solar resource, size of system and annual consumption, however, on average our clients are seeing a payback in as little as 4-6 years!

Financial Incentives for Going Solar

Financial Incentives Washington has long been an advocate of sustainability and energy efficiency. To help its residents and businesses take advantage of the state’s solar and other renewable energy resources—which include wind and geothermal—the state and many local utilities offer residents and businesses solar-specific financial incentives, including tax credits and net metering.
