Torrance Refinery3700 W 190th St, Torrance, California, United States
Since Oct, 2019
The Torrance Refinery was purchased in July 2016 by PBF Energy. The refinery covers 700 acres in Torrance, CA and has more than 570 employees, and another 300-500 contractors work there on a daily basis. Torrance features modern refining technologies that produce a range of products that provide consumers with the highest standards of living and mobility in history, including the cleanest-burning gasoline and diesel fuel in the United States, along with aviation fuels and other products. The refinery is capable of processing an average of 155,000 barrels of crude oil daily and producing 1.8 billion gallons of gasoline per year, which represents nearly 10% of the gasoline demand in California. In addition to blending three grades of gasoline, Torrance produces diesel fuel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gases (LPGs), coke and sulfur. The refinery ships products to customers via a series of proprietary pipelines and terminals throughout the region via truck, rail, barges, and ships. With its highly skilled workforce, modern refining technology, and a network of pipelines and terminals, Torrance provides the energy that keeps Californians on the move, fueling cars, trucks, buses, trains, boats, and planes. This network includes a pipeline from the refinery directly to Los Angeles International Airport, helping facilitate air travel out of the nation’s third busiest airport.
The Torrance Refinery:

- Employs more than 570 employees, many of whom are unionized, who earn excellent salaries, wages and benefits.
- Supports the jobs of thousands of contractors; every direct refinery job supports more than 15 indirect jobs in California.
- Pays millions of dollars in annual property and utility taxes that help fund vital community services.
- Supports the regional economy, labor and trade unions, and businesses by purchasing goods and services locally.
