About Company

Wind Tex Energy, LP (“WTE”) is a privately held independent wind power development company located in Dallas, Texas, founded in 2002 by Steven K. DeWolf.  WTE specializes in wind power generating projects. WTE has extensive experience in all aspects and phases of project development including siting, permitting, power sales agreements, wind measurement, contract negotiations, tax abatements, value limitation agreements, arranging electric grid interconnections and transmission studies as well as environmental, cultural assessment and FAA work, dealing with financing, hedge agreements, turbine supply agreements and BOP contracts.  WTE has developed five Texas Projects which are currently in operation. Together they comprise between 5% and 10% of the total Texas wind energy today. These projects include: Camp Springs I & II (250.5 MW), Stanton (120 MW), Turkey Track (169.5 MW), Snyder (63 MW), and CIRRUS (61.2 MW) for a total of 664.2 MW.  Currently, WTE is working with Mesa Power on the Stephens Ranch Wind Farm Project located in Lynn County and Borden County, Texas. This 377 MW project covers over 40,000 acres. Construction is slated to begin the summer of 2013. Additionally, in 2011, WTE sold its Petronilla Project (180 MW) to E.ON. Construction of that project is scheduled to begin in 2013.  WTE has previously explored or is currently exploring wind farm opportunities in Uruguay, St. Croix, and the Caribbean.

Projects

  • The Stanton Wind Project went into commercial operation in 2008. It is located about 16 miles east of Midland in Martin County, Texas. The project contains 80 General Electric wind turbines rated at 1.5 MW each for a total size of 120 MW. The estimated annual energy capability is 440 million kW hours. Stanton Wind Project was originally developed by Wind Tex Energy and subsequently sold to Invenergy LLC.
  • The Cirrus Wind 1 project went into commercial operation on December 19, 2012. It is located about 40 miles southeast of Lubbock in Lynn County, Texas. The project contains 17 China Creative Wind Energy wind turbines rated at 3.6 MW each for a total size of 61.2 MW. These wind turbines are mounted at a hub height of 80 meters and have a rotor diameter of 116 meters. The estimated annual energy production capability is 210 million kW hours. Cirrus Wind 1 was originally developed by Wind Tex Energy and subsequently sold to Cirrus Wind Energy, Inc. These 3.6 MW wind turbine generators have the highest capacity per turbine of any commercial wind turbine in the United States.
  • The Turkey Track Energy Center went into commercial operation in December 2008. It is located about 30 miles southwest of Abilene in Nolan County, Texas. The project contains 113 General Electric wind turbines rated at 1.5 MW each for a total size of 169.5 MW. The estimated annual energy production capability is 620 million kW hours.  Turkey Track Energy Center was originally developed by Wind Tex Energy and subsequently sold to Invenergy LLC.
  • The Camp Springs Energy Center went into commercial operation in June 2007. It is located about 80 miles northwest of Abilene in Scurry County, Texas. The project contains 87 General Electric wind turbines rated at 1.5 MW each for a total size of 130.5 MW. The estimated annual energy production capability is 482 million kW hours. Camp Springs Energy Center was originally developed by Wind Tex Energy and subsequently sold to Invenergy LLC.
  • The Snyder Wind Project went into commercial operation in December 2008. It is located about 80 miles northwest of Abilene in Scurry County,  Texas. The project contains 21 Vestas V-90 wind turbines rated 3 MW each for a total size of 63 MW. These wind turbines are mounted on 345 foot towers making these turbines the tallest in the United States. Snyder wind project was originally developed by Wind Tex Energy and subsequently sold to Windkraft Nord USA and then to the current owner Enel North America, Inc.
