Bluegrass Bio Fuels175 David Pribble Dr, Falmouth, Kentucky, United States
Since Sep, 2019
Bluegrass Biofuels is located in Falmouth, KY, approximately 1.5 miles south of downtown Falmouth. The original facility completed construction in 2009 by a company named Bluegrass Biodiesel on the back of funding from the Economic Development Administration. Bluegrass Biodiesel mothballed the facility in 2013 and the Pendleton County Industrial Authority took over the asset ownership. Bluegrass Biofuels, LLC acquired the assets in May of 2018 and has been revamping and improving the facility in terms of capabilities and process efficiencies.
Plant Capabilities
Bluegrass Biofuels will have the operation to process up to 9.5mm gallons of feedstock per year into ASTM D6751 certified biodiesel after the initial phase of construction improvement is completed. The plant plans to complete the initial phase and to start commercially processing material in Q2 2019. The current facility processing equipment sits on a 8,000sq. ft. footprint of a 43,000 sq. ft. facility leaving room for significant growth and expansion. Bluegrass will have the ability to process both Soybean oil and used cooking oil feedstock and convert them into biodiesel through its esterification and transesterification process.
