About Company

Alliant Gas, LLC. is owned and operated by a management team with extensive experience in the energy and real estate development industries. This unique combination of experience allows us to operate efficient community propane systems with the knowledge and understanding of what is expected from the development team and the homeowners.

Our Services

Alliant Gas, LLC. develops and provides central propane service to both residential and commercial developments through community propane systems. These systems currently serve 18 well-known communities (over 1,400 customers) in the San Antonio-Austin areas, such as Cordillera Ranch in Boerne and Lakeway in Austin. Alliant Gas not only focuses on its existing customers and communities, but works with developers and builders to grow the business in new communities as well.

Community Propane Systems

Home buyers trust their builder to build a quality home that is comfortable and energy efficient. Propane is the safest, most economical and most environmentally-friendly means of heating homes, heating pools, drying clothes and cooking. Alliant Gas installs and operates “community propane systems” for residential and commercial developments where natural gas is not available.

How It Works

Normally, homeowners who wish to have gas appliances in their homes have to install a propane tank located on their lot; however, our system uses underground engineered distribution facilities, eliminating the need for propane tanks in homeowners’ yards and eliminating the need for maintenance. By installing one underground central propane tank for an entire development and installing underground pipe to each lot, developers can market and provide central gas for their homeowners.

There are many benefits to using a community gas system over an individual yard propane tank. Here are a few.

  • One central system for entire development allows for curb appeal
  • There are no individual tanks at each home
  • The need for propane delivery trucks in the neighborhood is eliminated
  • Central Gas increases the marketability of the development
  • Customers avoid large bills from periodic tank fill-ups
  • Monthly statements for metered usage are sent to homeowners
  • Community tanks are maintenance-free for homeowners
  • Meets high safety standards required by the Texas Railroad Commission
  • Competitive energy prices
  • PROVIDES A COST SAVINGS TO THE HOMEOWNER

Here are some useful facts about the benefits of propane gas.

  • On a national average, propane costs less than electricity on a per-BTU basis, according to a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) study.
  • The operating costs of propane furnaces are less than electric models in most cases.
  • Electric heat pumps must often be supplemented with electric strip heat, resulting in higher costs and lower efficiency.
  • Propane clothes dryers can complete the drying task in about three-quarters of the time it takes an electric model, resulting in substantial cost savings for the homeowner. This is a selling point builders cannot afford to overlook.
  • Cooking with propane, on average, costs less than half of cooking with electricity.
  • Response and Control: Gas will respond instantly, while electric elements will not.
  • Ninety seven percent of professional chefs prefer cooking with gas (American Chefs Association).
  • Many Homebuyers will want to select a home with a built-in gas grill without the hassle of changing individual bottles when they are empty.
  • If a pool is part of your customer’s dreams, it’s important to ensure that the water temperature can be maintained at a comfortable level. Propane pool and spa heaters are the answer. They’re convenient, cost-effective, and dependable.
  • Rebates are available from the Texas Railroad Commission when building a new home with propane appliances (upon available funds)
  • A propane gas furnace saves around $300 annually compared to an electric furnace.
  • Propane water heaters save up to $150 annually over electric and heat 2 ½ times the water with the same amount of energy (DOE).

Heating is the largest energy expense in most homes

This accounts for almost two-thirds of annual energy bills in colder areas of the country. Home heating systems can also be a major source of air pollution. According to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, heating systems produce a billion tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and about 12 percent of the sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides emitted nationwide. Reducing energy demand for heating and using clean-burning fuels like propane are the most effective ways to cut heating bills in half and improve the environment at the same time.
