PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR PANELS

With lots of sunny days year-round — 218 days of sunshine in an average year in Northwest Arkansas, and even more in Oklahoma — solar electricity is an extremely viable alternative energy source for Arkansas and Oklahoma.

TYPES OF SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATIONS

• PV Panels are secured to the roof using rugged Unirac Solar Mount rails and hardware. Roof mounted solar panels are often well suited to homes with south facing roofs with a pitch between 4/12 and 8/12.
• Ground mounted solar panel systems provide flexibility in location and can operate more efficiently due to their optimal location and angle of solar panel mounting
• Pole Mounts can only be used to mount limited numbers of PV panels and, therefore, are suitable for projects with small-scale energy needs. Pictured to the right is a 6,000 watt array, which is very large for a pole mounted system.

HOW IT WORKS

Contrary to popular belief, solar water heating systems do not heat water by pumping it into chambers on your roof! Instead, panels on the roof contain a special solar fluid, which circulates to your water heater tank to transfer the heat to your water.

• Heat is collected in the solar fluid collectors.
• Heated solar fluid is pumped to the insulated tank.
• The controller circulates the solar fluid through tubes in the tank to heat the water to the desired temperature.
• Hot water from the tank is used in your home.
• Cooled solar fluid is returned to the collectors.

WIND POWER

Arkansas Wind & Solar installs wind turbines for off-grid applications and high-wind areas in Eastern Oklahoma.  These packages include the latest technology Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines. The turbines are American made and are mounted on a guyed or free standing tower up to 70 feet tall. 

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH YOUR WIND TURBINE INSTALLATION

There are few typical wind installations. Each one is different due to height, terrain, wind turbine type, and so on. With any installation, the first thing that must be done is to verify that the site is capable of producing the desired energy output. Once this is done, and our customer has decided to move forward, our crew proceeds with the installation.
