Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc11101 W 120th Ave Ste 400, Broomfield, Colorado, United States
Since Apr, 2019
Weve been providing development, engineering, construction and operations services to the utility-scale wind, solar, transmission, energy storage markets across the United States since 1997.
Weve built over 1,000 miles of transmissions lines throughout the US and Canada.
RES employs more than 500 full-time professionals and have more than 8,000 MW of renewable energy projects installed or currently under construction in the US. These total an annual production of 25 terawatt hours, and can provide enough electricity for 2.3 million homes. They also prevent 17 million tons of CO2 emissions every year. In addition, we currently have more than 5,300 MW of projects at different stages of development.
What we do
Our in-house expertise and skills, combined with over 15 yearexperience, means we can provide high-quality, centralized and distributed solutions, that are reliable, economical, and safe in every area, including costing, engineering, procurement, management, and quality and environmental processes. We also specialize in self-performing the construction essential to completing projects – such as building roads and crane pads, foundation excavating and backfilling, underground cabling, erecting overhead lines, and installing turbines and solar panels. We are experts in third-party engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and balance of plant/systems (BOP/BOS) construction services for the renewable energy, transmission, and energy storage industries. We also develop and/or own and operate renewable energy and storage projects.
Landowners and communities
We involve the local community in all of our projects by hosting or participating in meetings and maintaining an open line of communication with a wide range of stakeholders. We do this through public meetings, information brochures, site visits, and direct contact with residents, municipalities, and other community leaders. And, where possible, we use local businesses and suppliers on our projects.
For the projects we work on, we ensure:
- minimal disturbance to existing land activities
- restoration of land at the end of a project
- open communication
How it works, in brief
Our development teams coordinate in-house expertise from across our business to ensure cost efficiencies at every stage of a project. We also look to secure cooperation from and with local communities, authorities and energy companies - so we can achieve the best results. When choosing a site, we consider a range of issues. These include land use, ecology, solar resource (or wind speed and terrain) and ease of access, as well as planning policies and proximity to peoples homes. Then, with knowledgeable in-house teams on hand for the technical and engineering challenges - such as resource assessment, procuring the most appropriate technology, civil engineering and grid connection - we get to work designing and building successful projects.
Project engineering
We provide engineering expertise during the development phase, when our engineers assess site access for components and construction materials, including recommending upgrades to local roads. Were also responsible for land use requirements and on-site infrastructure. Our engineers design the foundations for both onshore and offshore projects, and we do everything as cost effectively as possible, allowing for any developmental or environmental limitations.
Electrical engineering and grid code compliance
All our grid engineers are highly experienced with grid compliance in different markets around the world, and consider the complete system design – from turbine or panel through to grid connection. We have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of grid connections and grid code compliance, and understand the vital part that securing grid capacity for projects plays during development. We also understand how all generators must comply with stringent grid codes. It essential for safe and efficient network operation. Weve developed our own software to control and monitor projects effectively - RESolve.
Procurement and engineering
Weve built up a wealth of experience specifying technology for our own projects. This is very useful for giving clients impartial specialist advice. It also means our engineers can work with wind turbine, solar panel and battery storage suppliers to prepare the technical specification and help manage design. We keep track of quality assurance to ensure equipment comes as specified, and evaluate and select the appropriate technology and continued reliability engineering to help manage risks over each projects lifetime.
