Cox is an established, privately owned, independent oil and gas company founded by fourth generation oilman, Brad E. Cox. The Company owns and operates assets in the Gulf of Mexico. Since its inception in 2004, the Company has grown through the strategic acquisition and revitalization of mature oil and gas fields located in both the OCS and the shallow waters off the coast of Louisiana.
Environmental & Safety Commitment
Cox Operating is committed to conducting business in a manner that safeguards its employees, contractors, customers and the environment in which it does business. It is the company’s policy to comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations and, whenever possible, exceed the minimum standards on all environment safety practices. Cox Operating’s Spill Response Program was approved by and is on file with BOEM/BSEE along with our Worst-Case Discharge Certification. We are members of Clean Gulf Associates, where Clean Gulf personnel and equipment are prepared to respond to incidents 24 hours a day, year-round. Clean Gulf Associates is a not-for-profit oil spill cooperative dedicated to the Gulf of Mexico’s exploration and production (E&P) industry, which provides continuous coverage, state-of-the-art equipment, and expert personnel to assist its members in mitigating marine incidents and protecting natural ecosystems. Their current membership consists of 112 major and small independent companies, making the association one of North America’s largest oil spill cooperatives by membership. By coordinating shared financial responsibility for these resources, Clean Gulf minimizes or even eliminates the need for each member company to stockpile or fund personnel to conduct on-water oil spill response, dispersant operations, insitu-burn, and wildlife rehabilitation services. Clean Gulf works closely with its member companies and affiliates, the United States Coast Guard, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and all Gulf Coast state environmental and regulatory agencies to protect the coast and its habitat, and to ensure the highest level of regulatory compliance.
Oil Field Operations
Since its formation in 2004, Cox Operating has compiled an extensive portfolio of assets in the Gulf of Mexico. It currently operates more than 200 producing wells over 25 fields. The company has assembled an experienced management team supported by a seasoned array of geotechnical expertise. Cox Operating strives to have full employment of field personnel – as opposed to outside contractors – to operate the assets in the portfolio. The operations currently stretch from Texas to Florida, with structures ranging from the shallow waters in the State of Louisiana to approximately 400′ of water on the outer continental shelf of the Gulf of Mexico. Today Cox has an ongoing development program to identify opportunities in existing wells in addition to new plays and prospects. Our experienced internal personnel possess both the ability to identify as well as efficiently execute, and our field personnel strive to maintain safety and compliance as their foremost task above economic gain. This mentality and ethic aids in a record that continues to be one of the top in the industry.
