Herring Gas Company, Inc was founded in October, 1946 by the late C. Graham Herring in Meadville, Mississippi. The focus of Mr. Herring’s business remains the same today as its founding… sell propane gas to customers with courteous and prompt delivery while providing skilled personnel to support service needs. Under Mr. Herring’s leadership, additional branches were opened in Brookhaven in 1951 and Gloster in 1960.  Ed Herring, the companies current Chairman of the Board, grew up working in the gas business. In 1969, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he served two years in the army, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following an honorable discharge in 1971, Ed returned home to work with his father and in 1975 became the president of Herring Gas Company. Under Ed’s leadership our family owned business has grown with acquisitions and internal growth too.  Herring Gas Company is now in a third generation of succession with Ed’s son, Jody Herring, serving as the company president. Jody, like his father, has grown up in the propane gas business, working in every aspect of the company from service technician to regional operations manager. Jody is not only well versed in propane but is also a graduate of Belhaven College with a degree in business. Today, Jody is committed to following the same core values of his father and grandfather while leading the company into the future.  The leadership team at Herring Gas also includes, Dennis Walker, CFO; Tommy Smallwood, vice president, fleet and safety; Eddie Stebbins, vice president, operations. Together they make sure the day to day operations run smoothly, which ultimately is making sure our customer’s needs are taken care of.  We know that our future depends upon the service we provide to our customers. Knowing that, we hire quality people, maintain a high standard of performance, use state of the art equipment to work with, have a comprehensive safety program, and expect a high degree of commitment from all of our employees. Installation and Repair Services

Whether you need propane gas service installed in a new building or an outlet added to an existing one, our skilled service technicians can do the job. We also provide onsite repair and service for all propane stoves, heaters, water heaters, and almost any other propane-burning appliance. Our service technicians receive extensive safety and technical training to make sure any work done is done right.

Route and Volume Discounts

Residential customers can avoid running out by participating in our route program and save up to $.10/gallon off of the Will Call Price. To qualify you must maintain a zero balance and pre-authorize us to fill up your tank each month. Agricultural, commercial, and government customers may qualify for discounts based on the volume of gas used during the year.

Prebuy and Contract Programs We offer the option for customers to prebuy gas during warmer months, when gas prices are typically the lowest, enabling them to avoid the historically higher wintertime prices. Agricultural customers can also sign a contract for gas that locks in a lower price for the winter season.
