Cernak Fuel has been continuously owned and operated by the Cernak family since it began in 1935 with John Cernak making local deliveries of petroleum products as a one truck operation. In 1957, Johns brother, Michael Cernak took the helm and continued to grow the business with the addition of a shop adjacent to the truck garage (in 1967) and a bulk fuel storage facility (in the 1970s and 1980s). He felt that it was important for customers to have service in the event of an emergency, and started the in-house service department with 24/7 emergency service. In 1987 two of Mikes children Rick and Leslie began running the business and by 2008 they expanded the delivery area into the upper Pioneer Valley to the Vermont line and south to Chicopee and South Hadley. Cernak Fuel delivers heating oil and diesel fuel to homeowners, landlords and businesses.
