Froesel Oil Company eventually became a subsidiary company of Cross Oil Company, founded by Bill Cross late father, Herbert A. Cross, in 1958 as a distributor of Phillips 66 petroleum products. Over the years, Froesel Oil has expanded its offerings to include gasoline; diesel, jet and aviation fuels; and ethanol.
Although our offices have moved occasionally and our delivery fleet has grown, our commitment to reliable service remains the same. A past recipient of the Phillips 66 Supplier Recognition Award, we take pride in our ability to handle difficult or demanding situations with ease and professionalism, as well as in our excellent safety record and our clean and polished fleet of delivery vehicles.
The Beginning
In 1928, LeRoy and Marvin Froesel, along with their father, stood outside their still-prosperous Ellisville blacksmith shop and couldnt help but notice the steady increase of cars along the towns streets. Never known to ignore an opportunity, the three soon opened Froesel Oil Company, a gasoline station and auto garage, in the former blacksmith shop.A few years later, in 1933, Froesel Oil entered the distribution business when it forged a relationship with Mobil Oil. LeRoy Froesel carried on the distribution business after the deaths of his father and brother and continued to manage it until its sale to and incorporation by William A. Cross in 1973.
