Our History
OutBack Power is a leading designer and manufacturer of reliable power electronics for renewable energy applications including solar, wind, micro-hydro and battery based energy systems. OutBack products have been installed in homes, businesses, industrial and government facilities around the world.
OutBack was founded in 2001 by three engineers with a long history of designing leading edge power electronics for renewable energy applications. OutBack founders believed that the renewable energy industry was on the verge of unparalleled growth, driven by the emerging need for sustainable alternative sources of energy.
OutBack initially designed and manufactured integration hardware used by solar installers to house and protect power electronics installed in remote environments, often harsh locations around the world. Soon thereafter, the company launched a new line of inverter products delivering pure sinewave power for off-grid residential and commercial installations. In subsequent years, the company expanded its product offering to include off-grid inverters with battery backup, grid-tie inverters with battery backup, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controllers, communications/network products and a complete line of integration hardware.
