KB Energy, LLC 1704 State Hwy 13, Box 200, Arlington, Wyoming, United States
Since Nov, 2016
Keith Broyles, co-founder of KB Energy Co was first introduced to the wind industry in 1992 when he went to work for Kenetech as a Site Representative at the 44.4MW Foote Creek Rim wind energy project and traveled with them across the west assisting in other wind energy development projects, mostly in Texas.
In 1995 Keith took a position at TICORA Geosciences as a Field Lab Manager/Engineering Technician for a mobile coalbed methane laboratory, performing data collection, compilation and analysis as well as assisting on well final reporting. This work included tireless attention to detail and data handling. Skills learned here would carry over to the wind industry, specifically the met tower side and the data collected for wind resource assessment projects.
In 1997 Keith took a position as the Assistant Construction Manager for SeaWest Windpower on the 44.4 MW Foote Creek Rim wind project. Supervising the crews that were building roads, excavating foundations, laying conduit, pouring foundations and erecting towers and nacelles for 69 Mitsubishi 600KW machines.
Due to the growing industry demand for a professional met tower installation company, Keith and Lois founded KB Energy, LLC and has installed meteorological towers in every state west of the Mississippi, two Canadian provinces, Puerto Rico, and the Island of Grenada.
Lois Broyles is co-founder and CFO of the company. She excels in arranging schedules and organization for the ever increasing clientele base and always changing schedule. She also handles the accounting associated with the business and coordinates with our accounting firm to keep things running smoothly.
Lois received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wyoming in 1995.
Among all her other duties Lois helps out daily on the family ranch, assisting in the duties of ranch life and raising purebred Arabian horses.
Keith and Lois are blessed with 3 children; Scott, Annetta and Rachel. We all affectionately call the 000 (Three Circle) Ranch at Arlington Wyoming, our home.
Lois’ family are fourth generation ranchers in the Rock Creek Valley on a 400 cow/calf operation. Roots run deep here as does a love for the land, cattle and respect for the environment.
The 000 Ranch boasts 66 Mitsubishi 600 KW wind turbines that are 40 meters (132′) in height, which are situated atop the now famous Foote Creek Rim. Foote Creek has one of the highest rated production capacity factors of any wind energy facility in North America.
Who We Are
With over 20 years in the wind energy industry, we have vast experience in all aspects: development, construction, O&M, and we are landowners with 60 turbines on the family ranch. However our forte is wind resource assessment. We know how to erect all of the Tilt-Up Met towers that are being built today, and we were the first certified 80-meter installer in the US. We have installed or worked on over 1500 towers since our business began in 2000. As such KB Energy is the trusted source for companies who are developing new products. We can help provide the professional service and feedback needed on Beta sensor/tower testing.
Safety is also key at KB. We have an exceptional safety record, and we are approved to work with many major companies that are just getting started in the wind industry. Along with our new clients, KB has a broad base of steady clientele built up over the years. These relationships are what sets KB apart from the rest. We pride ourselves on a well-earned reputation for quality workmanship and personal service. We are continually improving our methods to ensure that we are on the cutting edge of wind resource assessment technology and able to meet the needs of our clients.
What We Do
Met towers are used to measure and collect wind data such as wind speed, direction, temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity and the vertical component of wind. This information is collected by a data logger at the base of the tower, where it is stamped in 10 minute intervals to a data card every hour. Met towers are used by wind developers both large and small, landowners who want to know their own resource, government agencies and companies wishing to expand into the wind energy industry. At KB Energy, we help with new construction of met towers, relocates, refits and decommissions of Tilt-Up Met towers up to 80 meters in height. Whether you have a 20-meter tower to measure wind for a small residential turbine or you have a multiple 80-meter tower job in a foreign country, KB is up to the task. We have installed towers in some of the most remote areas of the continent, in the most inhospitable of conditions.
- Ask about our tower leasing program: it works well with individuals or smaller companies without the large budget to fund a tower purchase. Why worry about buying a tower, maintenance, cellular costs when you can wrap it all into one and use it for the time that you need? Purchase is available on every tower.
- Ask about our data collection. We offer data compilation, as well as analysis (utilizing WindPro).
