Rothsay Biodiesel880 Hwy 5 West, Dundas, Ontario, Canada
Since Nov, 2016
Rothsay’s efforts in biodiesel development began in 2001, when we launched a pilot plant co-located with our Montreal rendering facility producing biodiesel using recycled animal fats and used cooking oils. During this time, Rothsay’s biodiesel was used to support additional demonstration projects such as Montreal’s BioBus and BioMer projects.
In 2005, Rothsay Biodiesel was commissioned as Canada’s first commercial-scale biodiesel plant with a rated capacity of 35 million litres per year. By 2008, the facility was producing at full capacity and today the plant is running well above nameplate capacity at a rate of 45 million litres per year. Rothsay has developed extensive expertise in the manufacturing and use of biodiesel, and proudly adds to Darling's innovative and pioneering history of renewable fuel development.
At Rothsay Biodiesel, a brand of Darling Ingredients Inc., we provide:
Reliability: a reliable business partner focused on customer service from the first point of contact to the delivery of product.
Quality: delivering some of the world’s purest biodiesel made from recycled materials.
Sustainability: operating a fully integrated value chain. Our biodiesel is created from recycled materials from our own rendering plants. The materials are brought to our rendering plant by a fleet running on the biodiesel produced from the very materials they are picking up.
About Darling Ingredients
Darling Ingredients Inc., headquartered in Dallas, Texas, brought Rothsay and Rothsay Biodiesel into their family of sustainable brands in 2013. As the world’s largest publicly-traded producer of sustainable natural ingredients from edible and inedible bio-nutrients, with over 130 years of recycling experience and operations on five continents, Darling recycles all aspects of animal by-product streams into useable and specialty ingredients, such as gelatin, tallow, feed-grade fats, meat and bone meal, poultry meal, yellow grease, fuel feed stocks, green energy, natural casings and hides. These are sold to clients and customers in the pharmaceutical, food, pet food, feed, fuel and fertilizer industries. Darling also recovers and converts used cooking oil and commercial bakery residuals into valuable feed and fuel ingredients; provides grease trap collection services and sells used cooking oil collection equipment to restaurants; and collects organic industrial residuals for beneficial land application and nourishment.
