About Company

We are Saskatchewan's natural gas distribution company, a provincial Crown corporation with roots of more than half a century in Saskatchewan.

SaskEnergy delivers the benefits of safe, convenient and environmentally friendly natural gas to more than 385,000 residential, farm, commercial and industrial customers throughout Saskatchewan. We purchase natural gas from independent suppliers and transport it through our 68,500-kilometer distribution system to 93% of Saskatchewan communities.

We also work with the SaskEnergy Network of 150 independent natural gas retailers and contractors throughout Saskatchewan to give you easy access to natural gas appliances, service, financing and Natural Choice Services™ furnace maintenance services. Participating Network members offer AIR MILES® reward miles.

Saving Energy

Upgrading your furnace to a high efficiency ENERGY STAR certified model with a brushless DC motor is the greatest improvement you can make to lower your heating costs and save energy. You could save over 30% annually on your heating costs compared to an old standard efficiency furnace.

ENERGY STAR certified furnaces and boilers are exempt from PST. Your heating contractor will no longer charge you PST on this equipment.

SaskEnergy Network Members offer financing for ENERGY STAR certified furnaces and other natural gas appliances.

Safety

Natural gas is lighter than air and will dissipate into the atmosphere unless confined. It has a higher combustion temperature than other fuels.  Combustion cannot occur unless a narrow range of fuel-to-air mixture is present.  Find out what to do if you smell natural gas.

The most common way to detect a natural gas leak is by smell. The use of a natural gas detector is an additional and/or alternative safety measure for detecting a natural gas leak.  SaskEnergy, as part of our safety program, is currently offering a $25 Gas Detector Rebate.

For safe, efficient use of natural gas in your home, it is important that you respect natural gas, know how to use it properly and follow manufacturer directions for using and taking care of natural gas appliances. By properly caring for your appliances, you'll help ensure safe and effective operation.

Safety is our priority at SaskEnergy!

  • Our System Integrity Management Program takes steps to ensure our natural gas systems are well protected.
  • Contractors who work in safety sensitive positions are required to either comply with the SaskEnergy Drug & Alcohol Policy Standardor their own similar policy which they can demonstrate is equivalent to or exceeds the provisions of SaskEnergy's policy.
  • Participation in Sask1st Call line locating services ensures your safety and the safety of everyone around you by having natural gas lines marked prior to digging or excavating.
  • Planning a demolition project or moving a building? SaskEnergy will work with you to deactivate natural gas service lines and have the gas riser removed.

Saskatchewan Turnkey Program

To support the province's booming economy and growth, SaskEnergy, SaskPower and SaskTel, along with local cable providers, have partnered to introduce the Saskatchewan Turnkey Program.
The program is a new approach to the design and construction of shallow underground utility services. This process empowers subdivision developers by giving them more control over their schedules and provides timely, cost-effective and coordinated service to residential customer's that includes the installation of gas, electric, telephone and cable lines in a common trench.
To participate in the Saskatchewan Turnkey Program, developers are required to employ the necessary expertise to design and manage the construction of shallow underground utility facilities while adhering to the Saskatchewan Turnkey Program standards and guidelines.
