Advanced Cyclone Systems, S. A.Rua de Vilar, 235 3º Esq, EdifÃcio Scala , Porto, Portugal
Since May, 2015
The company works in a very close cooperation with its clients in order to design custom made cyclone systems that really solve their unmet needs.
Apart from supplying cyclones, ACS has grown to be a turnkey project provider in any part of the world.
· Product (powder) Recovery in chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries.
· Hurricane - Numerically optimized cyclones, considering particle agglomeration;
· ReCyclone MH - Optimized cyclones with mechanical recirculation
· ReCyclone EH Optimized cyclones with electrostatic recirculation *1.
*1 Electrostatic recirculation for fine particle capture was the winner of the Portuguese Environmental Press Award in 2008 and nominee for the European Environmental Press Award 2008.

It is from Porto (Portugal) that ACS exports its technology to the whole of Europe. In projects for other continents, part of the production is transferred to the partner-manufacturer that is closer to the installation premises. ACS celebrates commercial agreements and joint ventures with complementary equipment suppliers, such as boiler and dryer manufacturers, or large engineering companies and contractors.
All the manufacturing stages are closely controlled by ACS. Each material is selected according to each system application, and this follow-up allows not only to optimize the cyclone, but also the construction, assembly and transportation of each unique part, to all around the world.
For Particulate Matter emission control in high temperature exhaust streams, such as biomass and coal boilers and heaters, usual dedusters, such as regular cyclones and multicyclones are not able to reduce emissions to present emission limits, due to its low efficiency, particularly for small particles (< 10µm). This usually implies the investment in a complementary and final stage deduster. These boilers, particularly coal boilers, are associated with high gas flow rates, which significantly increases the investment needed for a particulate trap.
Bag filters (BF) are very efficient dedusters but can be very maintenance demanding, implying frequent cleaning and change of filter elements. In addition to high temperatures, biomass and coal combustion frequently releases burning particles, which damages filter elements and result in immediate increase in emissions. Solving this problem means spending money but also downtime in production.
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) are robust equipments and are very effective for a given range of dust resistivity. However, efficiency frequently drops outside that range as a consequence of temperature changes. Ultimately, ESPs' present and future retrofitting high investment cost is out of reach for many companies.
Venturi Scrubbers are alternative end stage dedusters, but at the cost of secondary wet pollution, which by itself restricts its usage, unless there is already an infrastructure to treat the liquid efluent.
Clients' needs include a very high efficient final dedusting system, robust enough to operate for many years without significant maintenance and operating costs, avoiding production downtime and acquirable for a reasonable price.Company Name | Advanced Cyclone Systems, S. A. |
