The ERS Global approach to generating business value for its customers through corporate sustainability efforts involves an integrated system of what we refer to as the 3E’s: evaluation, education and engagement. These three components are incorporated into everything we do for our clients – from our Sustainability Scorecard® benchmarking service to our fully integrated programs.

We know from experience that the ultimate goal for corporate sustainability is to create business value. Our process propels clients to that goal through a combination of evaluation (benchmarking, determining current position), education (throughout the enterprise and among major stakeholders, both internal and external) and engagement (inspiring an innovative mindset beyond compliance that creates new products and services).

Carbon Footprint and Action

There is a growing need for companies to account for greenhouse gas emissions to identify, evaluate, manage the risk, and seize opportunities surrounding climate change. According to The Conference Board, 75% of companies are actively in the process of measuring their carbon footprint – a specific measurement of greenhouse gas emissions within a defined boundary. Increased demand from major business customers and stakeholders along with pending government regulations are accelerating the need for action.

The ERS Global approach produces a customized solution through the following sequence of steps:

• Carbon footprint – development and analysis of an inventory through measurement of greenhouse gas emissions within a defined boundary to understand a company’s impact
• Short term action plan – a management plan to reduce emissions, first internally and then externally with stakeholders
• Long term strategy - includes evaluation of emission trading opportunities through purchase and sale of offsets to mitigate impacts that cannot be reduced at this time
