Skye Instruments is based in the UK and we are very proud to have been designing and manufacturing since 1983. Our products are designed and built in the UK. We have a very wide product base and our sensors & systems are used for plant & crop research; micro-climate, global  climate change studies; environmental monitoring and controlled environment installations.

Products include light sensors & systems, weather monitoring sensors, automatic weather stations, plant research systems.

Skye Instruments Ltd has been designing and manufacturing instrumentation for Environmental Monitoring, Plant Growth and Agricultural Research since 1983. The Company started on the Isle of Skye, Scotland and re-located to Wales in 1986.

In 1999 we purchased a 10,000 sq.ft factory, which has wonderful views of the Welsh countryside as well as giving us plenty of land for expansion!

We have taken great care and time fitting out the unit to give us plenty of production and calibration space, plus a meeting/training room and product display area.

We have a world-wide reputation for producing high quality instruments which stand up to life in the field, and for having excellent customer relationships. Although we are based in Wales, UK, we have representation in many countries as well as selling direct.

In 2009, Skye became an Employee-Owned Company. Skye has adopted the ‘John Lewis’ model whereby shares of the company are held in a trust, an Employee Benefit Trust.  All employees are equal owners and benefit from profit-sharing.

Skye Instruments develops, produces and markets high quality, precision instrumentation for environmental, botanical and laboratory use.

Skye are an environmentally aware Company and strive to ensure our business activities have the minimum possible adverse impact on the environment. We are proud of the fact that many of our products will be used to improve the natural environment around the world by increasing the understanding of natural events and minimising damage caused by human activities.

The Company aims to create and maintain a working environment that is safe for its employees, the local community and the global climate.

All applicable environmental guidelines and requirements are complied with. Skye employ the best environmental management practices where appropriate. Manufacturing waste is minimised and any waste materials are recycled or re-used wherever possible.

Recycled goods are used where practical to minimise the use of new materials. All Company literature is printed on environmentally friendly paper. The use of electronic document copies is encouraged.

As a Company, Skye supports Green initiatives and organisations. We have signed the Fair Trade Pledge to only provide hot beverages bearing the Fair Trade logo. Gift aid and charity donations are used as an alternative to seasonal gifts and cards.

Employees are encouraged to be aware of their own environmental impact at work. The factory is a designated no smoking building.
