Sauereisen History

For over a century, the Sauereisen name has ranked among the leaders of specialty cement development. When he was just a teenager in 1899, C. Fred Sauereisen, who worked with George Westinghouse in the development of the first porcelain insulator, founded Sauereisen Cements Company. The first Sauereisen cement, at one time used within practically every automobile manufactured in the United States, is still popular today for high temperature adhesive applications.

Sauereisen Today
Today Sauereisen is a third-generation company that has grown into one of the best-known corrosion-resistant material manufacturers in the world. Our product portfolio includes a complete line of organic and inorganic corrosion-resistant materials of construction for new and rehabilitation applications.

Sauereisen maintains a global presence with an extensive network of technical sales representatives in major cities throughout the world. Our manufacturing and warehouse facilities located in the United States, Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America provide worldwide product distribution.

Sauereisen remains dedicated to solving the problems requiring specialty materials. Our main areas of expertise are the restoration of infrastructure, the prevention of corrosion, and the insulation of high-temperature instrumentation.

Corrosion-Resistant Materials

Sauereisen offers a comprehensive selection of corrosion-resistant materials for new construction and restoration applications. Our organic materials offer low permeability and withstand chemicals from both sides of the pH scale. Similarly, our inorganic products offer superior resistance to the highest acid concentrations and temperatures through 2,000°F.

Sauereisen corrosion-resistant products are grouped into the following main categories: Coatings, Linings, Flooring, Polymer Concrete, Refractories, Mortars, Substrate Repair and Accessory Materials.

Industries Served by Sauereisen

In 1899 Sauereisen introduced its original product — a high-temperature adhesive cement for assembly applications. The ability of this ceramic-based material to resist acid was originally viewed as a secondary benefit. In time, the acid-resistant nature of the original product line helped Sauereisen expand into corrosion resistant applications to protect infrastructure.

Sauereisen first entered the industrial market by supplying mortars for chimneys in the power industry and for floors and tanks in the steel industry. Development that followed included monolithic refractories applied by gunite and then diversification into organic coatings and linings.

Today, Sauereisen's corrosion-resistant materials and specialty cements are providing long-lasting solutions throughout the world for industries including wastewater, power, chemical processing, food & beverage and others.
