Fluid Components International LLC1755 La Costa Meadows Drive , San Marcos, , California, United States
Since Apr, 2015
Fluid Components International solves flow and level measurement applications for industrial process and plant applications using patented thermal dispersion flow measurement technologies; With more than 40 years experience and the world’s largest installed base of thermal dispersion instruments, you can count on FCI to know your application and have proven solutions that will save you time and expense.
FCI was founded in 1964 in Canoga Park, California area. In 1980, we relocated our corporate and manufacturing facility to San Marcos, California (near San Diego). In order to support our increasing international customer base, we opened our European Sales and Service Center in the Netherlands in 1993.
In January 2003, FCI added the coveted AS9000 certificate to our certifications portfolio . Our design, manufacturing and calibration systems, processes and facilities are continuously reviewed, audited and accepted by the major industry leaders.
Our Industrial Division provides flow, liquid level, interface and temperature sensors utilizing thermal dispersion flow measurement technologies.
Our world-class Flow and Level Calibration Facility is continually being improved, expanded and upgraded to meet our customer's increasing requirements.
Flow and Level Instrumentation Solutions for Industrial Processes
From off-the-shelf products to custom engineered products and systems, FCI has the selection and an unequalled record of innovations to supply the optimal product for your application. From single-point to multi-point flow meters, from basic air flow to complex mixed, variable flare gas compositions, from water to the harshest of chemicals, FCI products will deliver superior accuracy, repeatability and long-term reliability at the lowest installed cost.
Our Capabilities at Fluid Components International
From off-the-shelf product solutions to custom engineered products and systems, FCI provides world leading experience and a record of unequalled innovation to meet or exceed our customer application demands. Complimenting FCI product leadership is a world class Flow and Level Calibration Facility in which all calibrations are performed in liquids or gases utilizing only N.I.S.T. traceable equipment and instrumentation.
We are proud of our quality systems that meet the requirements of MIL-STD-45662A and ANSI/NCSL Z-540.
Engineering, Research and Development
With over 40 years of successful service in process industries throughout the world, FCI has earned our customer's recognition as "The Mass Flow Expert".
We are proud of our market leadership to continually introduce breakthrough technologies. With extensive design development and laboratory testing facilities, FCI maintains exclusivity in the mass flow market by developing products that are comprehensively tested and validated to extreme process application conditions. One segment of the validation process includes detailed testing of power variations, EMI / RFI interferences, and other similar features that directly impact product longevity. With such an intensive product qualification process, FCI can continue to offer the most extensive product warranties in the instrumentation industry.
Our wide range of application and research capabilities have led us to uniquely develop and optimize our thermal dispersion technology. Our sensors now include self-heated and discretely heated RTD's that operate on constant power, constant current, constant voltage and pulsing technologies. Customers rely on FCI to select the optimum technology for their application and also recommend a performance validated instrument that meets or exceeds the most demanding process conditions.
Custom product design has become a rarity with many instrument suppliers. FCI continues to be an ambitious and innovative opportunist in providing solutions for difficult and exotic application challenges. For those customers that require only one instrument or an OEM who benefits by a customized design, FCI operates dedicated product divisions to promptly service custom applications, packaging, installation support and systems design.

Products and Technology
When rugged conditions combine with strict process control requirements, FCI’s thermal dispersion RTD sensing elements establish an unmatched record of superior product performance and reliability for the harshest environments.
Thermal Dispersion Technology
The typical thermal mass sensing element contains two thermowell-protected Resistance Temperature Detectors (platinum RTDs). When placed in the process stream, one RTD is heated and the other RTD senses the process temperature. The temperature difference between the two RTDs is related to the process flow rate as well as the properties of the process medium. Higher flow rates or denser media cause increased cooling of the heated RTD and a reduction in the RTD temperature difference.
Advantages of Thermal Dispersion (thermal mass flow meters):
No moving parts, orifices, bearings or seals to foul or fail
Accuracy for precision flow measurement, especially in low flow applications
Repeatability for consistent measurement in complex process environments
Wide flow range and wide turndowns for a broad range of applications
Highly reliable and dependable in rugged process environments
Easy installation with reduced maintenance requirements
