COMPANY BACKGROUND
Hanby colorimetric test method was discovered in 1986 by John Hanby for identifying the presence of hydrocarbons in soil or water. The Hanby method offers a revolutionary solution to obtaining on-site samples that potentially contain petroleum related substances. Field testing is inherently costly, time consuming and, quite often, unreliable. The Hanby method is designed to provide a precise color indication of the concentration of petroleum (gasoline, diesel, crude oil, etc) in field samples. This rapid, accurate method won immediate recognition by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, state regulatory agencies throughout the United States and various international regulatory agencies around the world.
When John Hanby received his Patent for the Hanby method, Hanby Environmental Laboratory Procedures, Inc. was founded by Barbara Hanby, a 100% woman-owned corporation, to promote this method by licensing the rights to manufacture and market this new patent from the inventor, John Hanby. H.E.L.P., INC has now dissolved and become the newly restructured company, Hanby Environmental LLC. The company took on new partners in managment and marketing, and has relocated the manufacturing and office facilites to be strategically located in Houston, in close proximity to much of the petroleum related activity in the United States. In addition to serving customers throughout the United States, the Company offers its full product line to customers throughout the world.
The Hanby system is a field portable method for the determination of petroleum related substances. Accuracy, speed and simplicity are fundamental to this groundbreaking technique that was discovered in 1986. The Hanby field test product line provides quanitative and qualitative analysis of soil and water samples in the field.
Hanby field products are designed to save time and money by significantly reducing the dependence on off-site laboratory analysis. The Hanby method provides accurate and fast qualitative and quantitative results while in the field. Hanby products enable our customers to quickly detect petroleum contaminanted zones or monitor locations to ensure continued compliance within approved guidelines.
The Hanby system is a field portable method that provides rapid analyses down to parts-per-billion for aromatic compounds, including gasoline, diesel, PCB's and many others. The procedure extracts the aromatic compounds from the sample and provides immediate colorimetric identification of the concentration and type of contaminants present. The color of the reacted extract solution indicates the type of compound, and the intensity of the color indicates the concentration. The results of the test compare consistently from sample to sample over a wide range of concentrations in soil, fresh water and salt water.
The Hanby product line functions as a self-contained portable laboratory in a rugged, lightweight briefcase. Each Hanby kit has been designed to include all of the materials necessary for non-technical personnel to use in the field with ease.
