ONGC Collaborates with BP to Boost Oil and Gas Production
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The largest producing field in India, Mumbai High Field, is the result of a partnership between BP and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited, a leading oil exporting company. BP will support the company's attempts to increase oil and gas production from the field by providing technical services. BP has pledged to increase production by up to 60%.

After being found in 1974, the Mumbai High Field produced 471,000 barrels of oil per day at its highest point in March 1985. The field's productivity has been decreasing. The output dropped to about 134,000 barrels per day in April of last year.
The nation's production of gas and oil has been flat for a number of years. The Oil Ministry had declared earlier in June of last year that it intended to increase output as soon as possible. It has been inviting international businesses to participate in India's oil exploration initiatives. The government's determination to lessen the nation's reliance on oil imports is what led to the ONGC's partnership with BP.
In a statement, BP stated that it is eager to apply its extensive knowledge in performance optimization and recovery from large, established fields to unlock and improve Mumbai High Field's output.
