Woodside Energy Began Efforts to Restart Operations at Pluto LNG Facility
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Following a temporary suspension last week due to a malfunctioning control system, Woodside Energy said that it has begun preparations to ensure a safe resumption of the Pluto LNG project. The Western Australia facility had announced shutdown on Monday.
The company confirmed that the efforts to resume operations at the facility began Tuesday. However, it did not provide any confirmation on the timeline or details of the restart. In the meantime, the Karratha Gas Plant, which supplies gas to the facility, continues to remain fully operational, it noted.
Natural gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas sources is processed in the Pluto LNG project. It is capable of producing 4.9 million metric tons annually. At the moment, it runs just one LNG train.
The proactive approach to avoiding downtime and guaranteeing continuity is demonstrated by the initiation of preparations to restart the plant the following day. Its prompt action demonstrates its dedication to preserving the dependability, efficiency, and safety of its operations. The uninterrupted functionality of the Karratha Gas Plant has helped in mitigating the impact of the temporary shutdown of the Pluto LNG facility.
