SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Egypt aims to increase daily natural gas production by 30% to 6 billion cubic feet by the end of 2025, up from the current 4.6 billion cubic feet.

The government is fast-tracking the development of natural gas fields with significant reserves to meet rising domestic demand and enhance export capacity.

International energy companies, including Chevron, Shell, and Petronas, are investing heavily in Egypt’s gas sector, with Chevron committing $150 million and Shell and Petronas contributing $420 million to key projects.

Egypt is targeting a 30% boost in its daily natural gas production, increasing output to 6 billion cubic feet by the end of 2025, according to a governmental statement. Currently, the country produces 4.6 billion cubic feet per day.

This plan comes amid Egypt’s push to address the growing gap between domestic energy demand and available supply.

The government is keen to accelerate the development of several gas fields with significant reserves, aiming to bring them into production as soon as possible to meet local consumption needs and strengthen export capabilities.

Recently, US energy giant Chevron announced plans to drill an exploratory well in Egypt’s Mediterranean waters within its Nargis concession area, with a $150 million investment.

Similarly, Dutch oil company Shell and Malaysia’s Petronas have committed $420 million for the 10th and 11th phases of development at the Burullus gas fields in Egypt’s West Delta, further underscoring the global interest in expanding Egypt’s natural gas sector.
