Cheniere Signed Long-Term LNG Supply Deal with BASF

The supply deal will extend through 2043.

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Cheniere Energy, Inc.- one of the leading producers and exporters of LNG in the U.S. announced that its subsidiary Cheniere Marketing, LLC has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement with BASF-the world’s largest chemical producer.

Under the agreement, Cheniere Energy will supply approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG from Cheniere Marketing on FOB basis. The price of sale will be indexed to the Henry Hub price, plus a fixed liquefaction fee. The deliveries are expected to commence in mid-2026. The supply deal will extend through 2043.

Commenting on the development, Anatol Feygin, Cheniere’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer said that the company is pleased to enter into a long-term relationship with BASF. The SPA demonstrates the critical role played by US natural gas in providing long-term secure, sustainable and affordable energy for the European region, he added.

Dr. Dirk Elvermann, BASF’s Chief Financial Officer the deal with Cheniere Energy will diversify its energy and raw materials portfolio. The agreement will ensure reliable supply of natural gas at competitive terms, he added.
