NNPC Indicted over N102bn Crude Oil Deliveries

The deliveries to each company were not recorded properly, thus making it difficult to reconcile the lifting details separately.

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited was indicted by the Senate on charges of poor record-keeping in connection with crude oil deliveries to Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company and Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, worth approximately N102.6bn.

The move is based on the 2016 Auditor General report, which was upheld by the plenary session of the Senate Chamber recently.

From the review and examination of domestic crude oil lifting sales profile, it was revealed that several deliveries were stated to be jointly lifted by or delivered to Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company and Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, without providing any details on delivered volumes of quantities. Further examination reiterated oil lifting by these two companies. The deliveries to each company were not recorded properly, thus making it difficult to reconcile the lifting details separately.

The Senate ordered that Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, must take necessary actions to ensure that specific details of crude delivered to the two refineries are made available for audit purpose.

Along with NNPC, the Senate also indicted nearly 35 other agencies, including the Office of Accountant General of the Federation, National Population Commission and FCT Area Council Service Commission.
